It all begins with an idea, a passion for community,

and a desire to create meaningful opportunities.

About Us

At Grit Med, we believe medicine doesn’t stop at the clinic doors—it belongs on the trail, in the mountains, on the water, and wherever people push their limits. Founded by Jeena and Emerson Fuller, Grit Med brings together deep clinical experience, wilderness medicine expertise, and a shared passion for adventure.

Jeena Fuller, PA-C, FAWM

Jeena is a Yale-trained Physician Assistant, mentor, and educator whose path has taken her from fire engines in Montana to commercial fishing boats in the Bering Sea. She has worked as an EMT/Firefighter, provided medical support for outdoor recreation events, and now mentors the next generation of PAs while working full-time in Vascular Surgery. When she’s not in the OR or teaching wilderness medicine, you can find her mountain biking, trail running, skiing, snowboarding, or making music.

Emerson Fuller, RN, WEMT

Emerson brings his own wealth of experience and steady presence to Grit Med. A nurse with a background that includes WEMT, EMT/Firefighter in the metro Detroit area, and ER technician, he thrives in both high-intensity clinical settings and rugged outdoor environments. An avid outdoorsman, he finds joy in running, biking, testing technical gear, and cooking. He is equally at home on the trail or in the gym.

Together

As a family, Jeena and Emerson share a commitment to adventure, education, and building resilient communities. Grit Med is their way of blending medical expertise with a love of the outdoors—empowering others to stay sharp, get gritty, and be prepared for whatever challenges the wilderness (and life) brings.
